La R&A anuncia que La Finca Golf Resort es un campo de golf sostenible de primera categoría

The R&A has announced the inclusion of La Finca Golf Resort in its Sustainable Agronomy Service, recognising its commitment to sustainability and excellence in course management.

La Finca Golf R&A 2026

The R&A has welcomed La Finca Golf Resort as one of the selected courses working with its Sustainable Agronomy Service, under a specialised support agreement. La Finca Golf is located in Algorfa (Alicante), one of Spain’s most renowned golf destinations, and is recognised for the design of its course and the quality of its resort facilities.

Recognition within The R&A Sustainable Agronomy Programme

The R&A Sustainable Agronomy Service supports golf clubs worldwide through independent, science-led advice, helping them achieve long-term sustainability without compromising course condition or playing performance.

Paul Woodham, Sustainable Agronomy Lead for Europe and GB&I at The R&A, said:

"La Finca Resort is a fantastic addition to our growing sustainable agronomy portfolio. Its reputation as a leading golf destination in Spain, combined with its ambition to lead best practice in agronomic and course management while driving environmental sustainability, makes this a very exciting collaboration. We look forward to working with the La Finca Golf team to demonstrate how sustainable approaches can enhance quality and resilience for the benefit of golfers and the game."

The R&A is internationally recognised for staging The Open, the AIG Women’s Open and elite amateur championships, as well as for its long-term commitment to promoting environmental responsibility across the sport.

La Finca Golf, a benchmark for golf in Spain

Opened in 2002 and designed by the renowned architect José Gancedo, La Finca Golf — recently enhanced under the consultancy of architect Tim Lobb — has established itself as a benchmark for golf in Spain. Its wide fairways, distinctive greens and natural water hazards present a unique challenge for both advanced amateurs and professional players. Over the years, the course has hosted European Junior Championships, Spanish Junior Championships, as well as national circuits and professional tournaments.

A shared commitment to sustainability

Gonzalo Pedrera Martínez, CEO of La Finca Resort, commented:

"Joining The R&A Sustainable Agronomy programme represents a very important step forward for us. It reinforces our commitment to excellence in course presentation and ensures that sustainability remains a central pillar of our long-term strategy. We are proud to collaborate with The R&A and to contribute to shaping a future for golf that balances performance with responsibility."

This collaboration reflects the shared ambition of both organisations to set new standards in course management and to place sustainability at the heart of world-class golf.
